On the special occasion of 2017 Chinese New Year, Melbourne Symphony Orchestra awarded its listeners with a true cross cultural new year concert named East Meets West: Chinese New Year Concert featuring Oscar winning conductor Tan Dun and Chinese superstar vocalist Tan Weiwei.

Tan Weiwei performed the world premiere of Song Lines of China, a collaborative work composed with Tan Dun. East Meets West: Chinese New Year Concert also saw maestro Tan Dun return to lead the MSO, bringing a creative repertoire that expands the boundaries of classical music and concert styles.

As the exclusive marketing partner for Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Castiglione’s collaboration with MSO has been nothing short of a work of harmony. Castiglione helped rally the community behind this artistic movement to ensure a sold-out event in the magnificent Hamer Hall.

The patron of this performance is His Excellency Mr Cheng Jingye, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Australia. This performance is part of Asia TOPA, a joint initiative of the Sidney Myer Fund and Arts Centre Melbourne, and is supported by the Australian and Victorian Governments.
